Girl on a string description By Mackenzie

WALT: use adjectives and to complete a piece of writing QUICKLY

I was walking along the path when the sun was blocked by something circle. It was big and wide. It looked like the moon but it is showing in the day. there was something hanging onto the circle. It was hard to see without the sun. so hard. it was foggy and dark. it wasn't very windy at all. i looked some more and it was a girl hanging on a string for a billion.

WALT: use adjectives and to complete a piece of writing QUICKLY

I stood under the dark of the tree. There was a ladder leading up. It was a rectangle shape. The shadow was big. It was swinging left and right. It was dripping water like it it was raining. the ground was wet from the water above.
There was a lamp and i climbed the ladder and I found a bed.

I jumped on the bed and jumped on it all day long.

take the cake - main star

Dear Mrs Drake,

I think differently than other people.

This affects me in lots of ways … making friends, the way I learn and the way I see things that happen around me.

This term, for our main star activities, we needed to nominate someone from my syndicate for a take the cake.

I didn’t think I would be able to do this because at school I feel left out and picked on sometimes.

But last week I felt different to normal days.

I had my STAR, PAT maths and PAT punctuation and grammar test results back in class and I did really good.

My teacher told almost everyone in my class about my results.

(Mum even told me she had heard back from other parents that they had heard from the kids in my class about how well I did.)

So this week, I want to nominate my class, Room 11 and Miss Panther for take the cake for showing support to me when I got my STAR test results. It made me feel like I belonged in the class.

Sincerely,

Mackenzie Hallberg

Random Acts of Kindness - Mainstar

For my random acts of kindness I did

  1. At the supermarket I loaded the bags into the trolley at the counter, then pushed the trolley to the car. Then I unloaded the groceries into the boot and when we got home I took all the bags inside to the kitchen. Mum was very happy.

  2. I went to Mr and Mrs Komen's house. I filled their coal bucket and took it inside. Then I went out to the wood pile with Mr Komen and took in 2 armfuls of wood and put it by the fire for them.
  3. When it was Support Staff day, I took Abi and Ellie in some fudge to say thankyou for helping me out at school. They both loved the fudge!
  4. Greg from my Dad's work had his birthday last week. Mum was making lolly cake for us but I thought it would be a great idea to take some to Greg because he likes lolly cake  A LOT!
  5. Today I took a big plate of chocolate chip biscuits that I made with Mum to school for the staff to enjoy ... just because!

Preparing for camp - mainstar

To plan, prepare and pack for camp I did:

  • I brought the list home (very helpful)
  • with mum we checked if we needed to buy anything
  • we made sure that my clothes were clean in the few days before camp
  • we needed to buy a waterproof raincoat, new thermals, new long pants and a onesie
  • dad got my sleeping bag out from the caravan for me
  • we made piles of clothes and ticked the got it checklist
  • then mum named all my things
  • then checked off the list as we packed it together
Then I was packed all ready to go ... exciting!!!

Squad Training - club - main star

Swimming - Squad Training

This term I moved from after school swimming lessons to Squad Training.
My training is on a Monday at 4.45 for 45 minutes.

The first two weeks of Term 2, the pool was closed for repairs so there was no training.
The third week our class went on camp - so I missed that session.

Week 4
My first week at training. I met my coach - his name is Rhys.
We did lots of lengths of swimming. We did freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke.
At the end of the session we did diving and underwater activities.

Week 5
... Queens birthday  - so no sessions for us.

Week 6
This week we did lots of warm-up lengths. We also did dolphin kicks. A dolphin kick is where you keep your hands joint together and pointing in front of you. Your body wiggles like a dolphin and you keep your feet together and make them kick at the same time. I'm not very good at this but I am trying very hard.

Week 7
Here is todays training schedule.

When we had nearly finished we practiced our diving and were trying to work out how deep we needed to dive to get the fartherest away from the flags.

Week 8
This week we did the same as last week for our warm up lengths.
There was only me and another girl there so we had lots of fun together.
We practiced tumble-turns and diving too.

Book Character Day ... Jake the Dog.

I just made a new Voki. See it here:

Alpine Survival Kit Main Star

This is what I think needs to go in a basic survival kit (all stored inside a dry bag):

  • pencil and paper
  • whistle
  • tin foil
  • sealable plastic bags
  • pocket knife
  • torch
  • cell phone
  • water
  • water bottle
  • packaged food
  • sunscreen
  • bug repellent
  • map
  • gloves
  • woollen hat
  • water proof jacket
  • survival blanket
  • first aid kit
If you are going overnight tramping, you would need to take extra items like:
  • sleeping bag
  • bed roll
  • hiking stick
  • cooking and eating utensils
  • spare warm clothes

Here are two websites to visit if you are going into the alpine environment for further information

All Blacks beat England - kiwi kids news

The All Blacks (who play for rugby) have beaten England 20-15 in the first game of their three match series.
The win keeps the all Blacks 20 year unbeaten run at Eden Park, although the All Blacks didn’t claim the win until the 78th minute. If they lost, what would you do? write a comment of what you would do. the photo is
